Your records stay on your phone
Holdings, transactions, notes, watchlist, preferences, cached prices, and portfolio-value observations are stored in the app’s private SQLite database. CryptFolio has no account system, portfolio backend, cloud sync, advertising SDK, or analytics SDK.
Automatic Android cloud backup is disabled. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes local records. An explicit backup is how you move your portfolio to another device.
Live prices need a connection
The app connects directly to CoinPaprika for market prices, coin search, price history, and public coin artwork metadata. Logos may load from CoinPaprika’s static image service and are cached separately from your portfolio. Requests can include coin identifiers, search terms, and the history period you ask to see. They do not include your quantities, purchase costs, trade history, or notes.
Like other internet services, the market-data provider can receive technical request information such as your IP address. Cached data stays available when you’re offline, with timestamps and missing or stale prices identified.
Backups are yours to manage
Export backup creates a JSON file and opens Android’s share sheet. You choose the destination. The file contains your portfolio records and preferences, including full balances even when Hide balances is on.
Backup files are not encrypted. Anyone who can read the file can read those records. If you save or share it through another app or cloud service, that destination handles the copy under its own policies. CryptFolio does not upload backups automatically.
Restore checks the file before asking you to confirm replacement of your local data. Deleting the app does not delete backup files or copies you have shared elsewhere.
A few controls, explained
Hide balances conceals amounts on screen; it does not encrypt the database or exported files. Demo preview uses separate sample data in memory. Changes made inside the demo do not become real portfolio records.
CryptFolio records trades you enter. It does not ask for wallet seed phrases, exchange credentials, or access to your funds.
Checking for app updates
Installed Android releases from version 1.3 connect to Expo’s update service to check for compatible app code and assets. Requests include technical app and device information used to select a compatible update, such as the platform, update channel, and runtime version. They do not include portfolio records.
The app also checks a public release file on this Cloudflare website for newer Android APKs. These services receive ordinary technical request information, including your IP address. Update checks do not create a CryptFolio account or upload your portfolio.
This website and downloads
This website is separate from the Android app. It does not receive your app’s portfolio records. Its hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical website request data such as IP addresses, requested pages, and browser information to deliver and protect the site.
The Android download is hosted by Expo. Following the download link makes a request to Expo’s infrastructure. Those providers handle request data under their own policies: Cloudflare privacy policy and Expo privacy policy.
The testing page offers a feedback template. Copying or downloading it does not send a report. You decide whether and how to share it with the person who invited you.
